Well, the #CentoOS repos (not CentOS stream!) GOT PAYWALLED [www.youtube.com] git.centos.org and whilst I'd not trust #Oracle either since #OpenSolaris and #LibreOffice, the fact is that #RedHat canceled #CentOS8 or rather axed it prematurely...
But yeah, both @vkc 1 [www.youtube.com] & @BrodieOnLinux looked at this [www.youtube.com].

OFC, #RedHat - like #grsecurity - is legally in the position to #paywall the #SourceCode access to paying customers only.
- That doesn't mean it's a good idea either way...
And they decided [www.youtube.com] to kill #CentOS, because they don't understand that to make people and orgs buy #RHEL subscriptions, they've to provide value with those subscriptions, and many people decided that their offer isn't what they are able and/or willing to take.

Cuz for #devs it was very convenient to target #CentOS and test against it since it's basically identical to #RHEL - minus the commercial support - which also drove adoption of #RedHat's distro.
- Similar to how in many cases #OpenSUSE allowed most of the devs targeting #SLES & #SLED to get away not having to buy many machines and how the only.difference between #UbuntuLTS & #UbuntuPro are #Landscape, #ESM repos and getting 10years of paid per annum instead of 5 years free security updates.
