They're trying to make it impossible for trans people to live our lives. There is no way I can get a passport since they're asking me for documentation that doesn't exist. I do not have a birth certificate that says what they want it to say. It simply means that unless I spend months undoing my documentation changes, I can't legally leave the country.
With the Texas stuff it's even more sinister. They're invalidating those documents. Without them, it becomes nearly impossible to do anything. And if they pull you over you fucking know the cops are gonna arrest you for driving without a license. Without a birth certificate they'll claim you're not a citizen. This is genocide and people need to wake the fuck up about that.
@GrayGooGirl and I guess moving into a different state and filing stuff there ain't working either?
- Not to mention the prohibitive costs...
At this point I'd not be surprised if many folks would try to flee to Mexico or even Cuba instead of getting hatecrimed!
