I really can't get over how irresponsible it is for MS to tell people to throw away or recycle perfectly working computers. There are so many machines people *could* keep using for much longer if not for Windows 11.

Ubuntu or Manjaro is what i would recommend.
Ubuntu may have the biggest supporting community and software support.

I merely pointed at @bunsenlabs for setups of really old hardware with nonexistant budget, when the choice is "make it work" or "have no at all"…
